After last year’s out of the ordinary incident whereby 5,000 dead birds fell from the sky on New Year’s Eve, the same incident happened this year in Arkansas. Although the numbers are nowhere near last year’s figures, several dozens of blackbirds were found littering the streets on New Year’s Eve.
Scientists explain that fireworks may be at the root of this mayhem whereby the birds may have been petrified by the sight of the fireworks which caused them to crash against buildings, cars or even one another.
The first call to report the sight of dead birds came early Saturday morning and officials responded by banning fireworks as an attempt to protect the birds. The blackbirds are known to be of migratory nature and they reside in Beebe, which is located 56 kilometers Northwest of Little Rock, Arkansas.
