Meet Julia, the world’s most tattooed woman
You may have heard of the world’s most tattooed man, but have you heard about the world’s most tattooed woman? A Californian woman called Julia Gnuse had ink over 95 per cent of her body and has been recognised as the most tattooed woman in the world by the Guinness book of World Records.
Gnuse got her first tattoo to cover up a very unpleasant skin condition called porphyria which causes the skin to blister when exposed to sunlight. The tattoos do not help her condition but helps cover up the unpleasant blisters all over her body which go as deep as a third degree burn.
Originally plastic surgeons began tattooing her skin with colours that matched her skin tone in an attempt to cover up her blisters and improve her appearance but that did not work. That is when the idea of colourful tattoos was suggested and ever since she has been hooked and getting more tattoos on a weekly basis. Her tattoos range from a jungle scene on her back to the cast of Bewitched on her buttocks.
