Piranhas seem to grab a bite out of Northeast Brazilian beach fun where authorities report that about 100 beachgoers have been bitten by the horror movie teeth fish. With their sharp teeth and ability to sink them deep into the human flesh, authorities are somewhat struggling to tackle the situation which is worst at the main beach area in Piaui state.
The problem can be explained by the fact that there are no other predators to the Piranhas in the food chain and this has resulted in an increase in their population. In an attempt to remedy to the situation, environmental officials have added tilapias to the deadly fish’s local food chain in the hope that this will curb their appetite and quest for human flesh.
Meanwhile, given the initial lack of predators and food, the piranhas have attacked beachgoers on the heels and toes and they had to seek medical assistance in Jose de freitas not far from Terezina, Piaui’s capital.
