A Rare Two Faced Cat celebrates 12th Birthday
Rare cat called Frank and Louie named after the Roman god with two faces has made its way to the Guinness Book of world Records to be the first of its kind to have lived that long. The Janus cat is the first feline with this type of condition to have lived up to 12 years when normally they have a life expectancy of only three to four days. The American cat born has two faces, two mouths, two noses and three eyes although he can see from only two of the three eyes. However, he can smell from both noses.
The cat was rescued and adopted by Marty Stevens after the original owner wanted to put down the cat after finding out about this rare condition. Marty considers every day to be a blessing considering the fact that despite this rare condition which leads to other health complications, the cats have had a normal life expectancy.
