The discovery of a 400 year old witch cottage comes only few months away from the 400th anniversary of the Pendal witch trials and represent a great discovery according to archaeologists, similar to that of finding the tomb of King Tut. The cottage was discovered by British engineers on a construction project in Lancashire.
The cottage was found in excellent condition and to top it all, even a mummified cat was found which belonged to the Pendle witches. It is believed that the cat was buried alive into the brick wall as a way to ward off evil spirits. The cottage is in such great condition that people can even walk through it and get a feel of what it was like in the past for the witches.
The building is found in an area known for its history related to witch trials that took place in the 17th century. Some people are even speculating that this might be the Malkin Tower which has been at the source of rumors for centuries now. At the site several items were discovered including a 19th century kitchen range, a tin bath and a Victorian crockery.
