In a heartwarming turn of events, a young boy who was at the center of a high-profile kidnapping case featured on Netflix’s ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ has been found safe after seven long years. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado revealed the recovery of Abdul Aziz Khan, now 14 years old, leading to the arrest of two individuals connected to his disappearance.
Aziz’s abduction in 2017 by his non-custodial mother and her new husband sparked a nationwide search. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) reported that Aziz’s mother, Rabia Khalid, failed to appear at a custody hearing, prompting her to flee with Aziz and her husband, Elliot Blake Bourgeois.
The custody battle between Aziz’s parents intensified over the years, with Khalid making it challenging for Aziz’s father, Abdul, to maintain contact with his son. Despite the distance, Abdul ensured frequent visits to uphold their bond, indicating Khalid’s impending loss of custody.
Following a breakthrough on Feb. 23, deputies responding to a burglary call in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, discovered Aziz at a vacant property, leading to the apprehension of Khalid and Bourgeois.
