Suspect Swallows Stolen Diamond Earrings, Detectives Recover Them Weeks Later

A bizarre incident unfolded in Orlando, Florida, where detectives managed to retrieve four stolen diamond earrings from a suspect who had ingested them following his apprehension on a highway in the Florida Panhandle. The valuable Tiffany & Co. jewelry, estimated at nearly $770,000, was swallowed by the suspect during the arrest, leading to a peculiar turn of events.

The recovery operation spanned two weeks, culminating in the successful retrieval of all four diamond earrings, with the final piece being extracted from the suspect just last week. Prior to this, three earrings were already reclaimed, accompanied by two additional unidentified diamond earrings. Following the theft, law enforcement managed to trace the suspect’s movements through security footage at a shopping mall, eventually leading to his apprehension in Washington County, nearly 340 miles away from the crime scene.

During his transportation in a police vehicle, the suspect made statements alluding to the swallowed earrings, expressing regret over not discarding them. At the Washington County detention center, he raised concerns about potential charges related to the items inside his body, as detailed in the arrest report.
